Three teenagers were arrested Wednesday in connection to a robbery at a store in Minneapolis’ Bryn Mawr neighborhood and the shooting of the store’s cashier.

Minneapolis Police said officers responded to a robbery call at Bryn Mawr Market at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, officers found a 20-year-old woman who’d been shot in the foot and torso. She was taken to a hospital for surgery and remained in serious but stable condition Thursday.

Officers learned four suspects tried to rob the convenience store and, when the woman couldn’t open the cash register, they shot and punched her before fleeing in a vehicle that investigators learned was previously stolen in a St. Paul carjacking.

Investigators worked with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Information Sharing Analysis Unit (CISA) to quickly identify the suspects. Later Wednesday night, investigators arrested three teens — ages 14, 15 and 16 — and booked them into the juvenile detention center on suspicion of assault and aggravated robbery.

Police say the teens are also being investigated for possible involvement in multiple past robberies and carjackings.

A GoFundMe fundraiser to help the injured employee and the business had raised over $16,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
