1 injured in fire in Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis
A man was injured after an apartment fire in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis Thursday evening.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, firefighters were called just before 5:30 p.m. on the report of a fire in an apartment building on the 2800 block of Pleasant Avenue South.
When crews arrived, they entered an apartment unit on the third floor and found a stove on fire and a man who suffered burn injuries.
Firefighters were able to carry the man out of the building.
"He’s in pretty grave condition," Deputy Chief Kathleen Mullen said. "Just did some life-supporting measures on him until we could get him into the hands of paramedics to get him down to the burn unit."
Fire officials said the man was transported to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported.
According to the fire department, the apartment where the fire was located is uninhabitable.
