1 dead in Minneapolis single vehicle crash

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening that left one woman deceased. 

According to police, at 9:17 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of Olson Memorial Highway an Penn Avenue. 

When officers arrived and located the vehicle. There was an adult female, believed to be in her 30's, deceased inside. 

The female was the only one in the vehicle. 

According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Olson Memorial Highway and left the roadway west of Penn Avenue. The vehicle described as a silver-colored SUV struck a fire hydrant and continued east across Penn Avenue, then through a grassy area south of Olson Memorial Highway and struck a tree. 

It is believed that speed may have been a factor in the crash. 

The identity of the deceased, along with the nature and causes of death, will be released by the medical examiner in the days to come.
