Third sample from Minnesota sent to CDC for coronavirus testing, health department says

A source from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has confirmed a third sample from the state has been sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for coronavirus testing.

Doug Schultz with the Minnesota Department of Health informed KSTP on Saturday morning.

The test results are pending.

Two previous samples sent from Minnesota recently tested negative.

China’s death toll from the virus rose to 259 on Saturday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), or confirmed 2019-nCoV infections, reported illnesses have ranged from infected people with little to no symptoms to people being severely ill and dying. Symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
