St. Paul police investigating fatal stabbing

St. Paul police are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place Friday.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers were called to the 200 block of East Seventh Street for a report that someone had been stabbed at 5:23 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a man lying in the parking lot of a gas station suffering from stab-related injuries.

The man was brought to the hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

The St. Paul Police Department believes the stabbing occurred after a 60-year-old man and the victim got into an altercation inside the store before the victim was injured.

The 60-year-old man stayed at the gas station and was later arrested for second-degree manslaughter.

Police said they are still investigating what happened and looking into the exact cause of the man’s death as well as identifying who he is.

“The victim did pass away from his injuries,” Sgt. Mike Ernster said. “We’ll determine that with the medical examiner on what those injuries were that did cause his death, but blood loss is probably most likely involved.”
