Tornado watch in effect for parts of southeast Minnesota

UPDATE: A tornado warning has been issued for central Winona County until 9:15 p.m. A damaging tornado and quarter-sized hail are possible. The tornado will be near Goodview around 8:45 p.m. and near Winona around 8:50 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, a tornado has been confirmed on the ground. All residents are urged to take cover immediately.
A tornado warning has been issued for north central Goodhue County and southwestern Pierce County. The warning is in effect until 7:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch through 10 p.m. Sunday for several counties across southeast Minnesota.
The affected counties include Dakota, Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Le Sueur, Mower, Nicollet, Olmsted, Rice, Scott, Sibley, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca and Winona.
According to KSTP Meteorologist Nicole Mitchell, the most severe weather is expected south of the Twin Cities metro. There is a high risk for heavy rain and strong thunderstorms throughout the area.
