Just as the sun offered some warmth and brightness this week, the possibility of snow has re-entered the metro area forecast.

Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said roughly 4-7 inches of snow is expected for the area that includes the Twin Cities metro area, Mankato, Rochester and Winona.

Yuhas said lighter snowfall amounts are expected north of the state toward St. Cloud and Duluth.

Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow said clouds will thicken Saturday night and snow could start developing overnight into Sunday. Then, snow is expected to continue falling Sunday, with periods of heavy snow possible.

Snowfall is expected to taper off Sunday evening, Barlow said.
