Strong thunderstorms are expected to develop in Saturday night in southern Minnesota, and large, baseball-sized hail is likely with the strongest storms.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 3 a.m. Sunday for southwest and south-central Minnesota
The strongest weather is expected in a band across the southwestern part of the state, but there is a slight to marginal chance of severe storms in the metro area. According to KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas, there is a 90% chance of thunderstorms from 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
Again on Sunday evening there is a 50% chance for thunderstorms. Sunday’s high is expected to reach into the low 80s, followed by a dramatic cool-off on Monday, when the high will only be around 62 degrees with a low of 47.
More rain and thunderstorms are forecast for Monday afternoon just south of the Twin Cities.

This week will be the time to break out your hoodies and jackets — temperatures will be getting into the 40s most nights, according to Yuhas.
