A winter weather advisory is in effect Saturday night into Sunday morning for a large portion of eastern and central Minnesota, KSTP meteorologist Nicole Mitchell said.

Rain is mixing with heavy snow Saturday night with winds ranging from 10-20 mph and some gusts of 35 mph. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday on a line that stretches from Mankato to Duluth.

On Sunday morning that heavy precipitation turns into lighter rain, which is expected to taper off into the afternoon. Those strong winds will turn into a light breeze by the evening as skies start to clear.

Looking ahead, we can expect a warm-up on Monday and Tuesday with plenty of sun and highs in the mid-50s.
