Severe thunderstorm watch, tornado warning in effect for southern Minnesota
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of southern Minnesota, including parts of the south metro.
According to the National Weather Service, the alert is in effect until 8 p.m. and includes Blue Earth, Brown, Carver, Cottonwood, Dakota, Dodge, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Jackson, Le Sueur, Martin, McLeod, Meeker, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Olmsted, Redwood, Renville, Rice, Scott, Sibley, Steele, Waseca and Watonwan counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for parts of three counties in northwestern Minnesota.
The alert was issued for eastern Clay County, northwestern Otter Tail County and southwestern Becker County and remains in effect until 1:45 p.m.
A confirmed tornado was spotted moving southeast at 1:07 p.m. near Cormorant, 14 miles southwest of Detroit Lakes, according to the NWS.

The tornado was expected to be near Cormorant around 1:15 p.m., Dunvilla around 1:35 p.m., Pelican Rapids around 1:40 p.m. and northwestern Lake Lida around 1:45 p.m.
Anyone in the area of the tornado should take cover immediately, either in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

The alert was issued for Gaylord MN, Winthrop MN, and Gibbon MN and remains in effect until 2:45 p.m.

Another alert has been issued for Pope County MN, Fairmount MN, Sherburn MN, and Welcome MN until 3 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Gaylord MN, Nicollett MN, and Lafayettee MN and will remain in effect until 3:15 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, anyone that live in the path of the storm is to calmly seek shelter inside.
