Record-setting snowstorm totals around the metro

An October snowstorm moved through the state Tuesday, dropping more than a half-foot of snow across most of the metro area.
The storm dropped 7.4 inches at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the earliest that much snow has ever fallen in Minnesota in a single day. It’s also already the second-snowiest October on record, trailing only 8.2 inches that fell in 1991, KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said.
Many areas in the northern metro received around 6 inches of snow while Lakeville and some other southern Twin Cities suburbs got around 9 inches of snow. The western Minnesota town of Sedan got 10.8 inches.

- Maple Grove — 6.1 inches,
- St. Paul — 6.3 inches,
- Mounds View — 6.4 inches,
- Jordan — 6.4 inches,
- Minneapolis — 6.5 inches,
- Waconia — 6.7 inches,
- Chanhassen — 7 inches,
- Northfield — 7.5 inches,
- Eagan — 7.6 inches,
- Bloomington — 7.9 inches,
- Farmington — 8 inches,
- Hastings — 8 inches,
- Delano — 8 inches
- Prior Lake — 9 inches.
The National Weather Service said widespread snow was possible again Thursday, with amounts as high as 8 inches forecast from southern North Dakota and northern South Dakota into northeastern Minnesota.
