Light rain, snow possible on Monday with more to come

A mini winter is coming.

According to KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas, unseasonably cold weather accompanied by occasional snow showers is expected this week, and we could see some snow as soon as Monday.

Monday is forecast to be cloudy with light rain and possible snow showers at times. The chance for precipitation is 60%, but no snow accumulation is expected. The high is projected to be 38 degrees, well below average for this time of year, Yuhas said.

The best chance for snow comes on Tuesday. We could see 1-3 inches of accumulation in the Twin Cities metro and upwards of 4 inches from St. Cloud up to Duluth. Yuhas says to prepare for wet and slippery roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

A warm-up is expected by Thursday, when high temperatures could scrape 50 degrees, but that comes with potential rain and thunderstorms. More wintry air rolls in on Friday, bringing a chance for more snow.
