Heat advisory in effect Thursday

A heat advisory is in effect in the Twin Cities Thursday afternoon.

Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said Thursday will be hot and humid, with isolated thunderstorms possible in northern parts of the metro.

The high is expected to be 92 degrees, with a dew point of 70 and a heat index of 95 to 100, Yuhas said.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 1-8 p.m. in Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey, Washington, Carver, Scott and Dakota counties Thursday.

The NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, wearing lightweight clothing, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and staying out of the sun as much as possible.

Looking ahead, Yuhas said weather will remain hot and humid through the Fourth of July weekend and beyond, with thunderstorms at times and temperatures between 89 and 94 degrees during the day.
