Flash flooding, damage reported from overnight storms

Flash flooding was reported in parts of Hennepin, Scott and Carver counties Monday morning.
The National Weather Service said radar indicated heavy thunderstorms producing significant amounts of rain were moving through those areas early Monday. Four to 6 inches of rain fell overnight, the NWS reported, causing flooding in some areas.
Overnight, there were reports of wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail in the metro as well as south of the metro.
Damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees was reported.

Additionally, there were reports of power outages in areas affected by the storms.

Those in areas affected by the storms were advised by the NWS to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building and drivers were advised to not drive through flooded roads.
The NWS reported scattered thunderstorms producing large hail, strong winds, and heavy rainfall remained possible across east and south-central Minnesota as well as west-central Wisconsin Monday morning.

Looking ahead, the NWS reported periodic thunderstorms are possible Wednesday through Saturday but they are not expected to be severe. Meanwhile, Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow said to expect high temperatures in the 80s for the majority of the week.
