Flash flood warning issued for parts of east metro
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of the east metro Sunday until 6 p.m.
According to the alert, the affected area includes cities in east-central Ramsey County and west-central Washington County, such as St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale, Lake Elmo, North St. Paul, Landfall, Pine Springs and Lake Phalen.
Between 1 and 3 inches of rain had fallen in the area by 3 p.m., according to the NWS. As much as 2 additional inches of rainfall is possible.
If you encounter a flooded road, turn around and do not drive through the water. According to the NWS, most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
