Wisconsin highway remains closed after hazmat spill
Authorities were at the scene of a hazardous substances spill along Highway 53 near Interstate 94 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Thursday.
The spill was the result of a semi truck crash on the highway.
The Eau Claire Police Department said officials had lifted the evacuation order for the immediate area.
The highway was expected to remain closed "for quite some time" for cleanup.
**UPDATE** The evacuation has been lifted and people may return to their homes and businesses around the crash on Hwy 53. The highway will remain closed for quite some time as clean up is completed.

Earlier Thursday, authorities asked those within a third of a mile of the spill to leave the area.
