Weekend closures: Portions of I-494, I-694 closing in east metro

It’s been nothing but road closures every weekend for the last month.

For the second weekend in a row, drivers will be detoured around Interstate 494 in the southeast metro.

The eastbound lanes will shut down between Highway 5 near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and I-35E in Eagan. The work is part of a larger project to resurface and repair pavement and bridges along that stretch. Follow the detour along Cedar Avenue and I-35E.

The ramp from I-494 westbound to Highway 5 eastbound will close at the same time. The work gets underway at 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

In the east metro, I-694 is closing this weekend, too. The southbound lanes will shut down between Highway 36 and I-94 in Oakdale for resurfacing. The project gets underway at 7 p.m. Friday and wraps up by 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 36, I-35E, and I-94.
