Experts are predicting that the roads will be especially busy during this Labor Day holiday weekend.

If you’re heading out of the Twin Cities, there are still a number of detours in place. In Red Wing, a detour was set up earlier this week after a building collapsed when an SUV drove into it. The building is located in downtown Red Wing at Plum Street and Third Street.

Traffic coming in from Wisconsin on Highway 63 will be routed to Highway 61. Traffic heading north on Highway 58 will encounter a short, local detour.

If you’re heading north of the Twin Cities this weekend, watch for a traffic shift along Interstate 35W. It’s impacting the northbound lanes between Lake Drive in Blaine and Sunset Avenue in Lino Lakes. Stay to the right to access local exits in the area, otherwise you can use the left lanes to continue driving straight through. The configuration will stay in place until this fall.

There’s better news along Interstate 35. Lanes are open between Harris and Pine City. Single-lane construction cleared earlier this summer.

In north central Minnesota, Highway 10 remains closed in Wadena. Lanes shut down in late August as part of a reconstruction project. Traffic is being detoured to Highway 71, Highway 29 and County Road 75.
