Teenage passenger dies in Rosemount rollover crash on way to school
A teenage girl died in a one-vehicle crash Thursday morning as her brother was driving her to school, according to the Rosemount Police Department.
Police said around 8:26 a.m. Thursday a pickup truck lost control, rolled over and hit a power pole on Blaine Avenue a quarter-mile north of 152nd Street East in Rosemount. The driver was seen outside the vehicle trying to flag down officers as they arrived on the scene.
The passenger in the car, who the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified as 17-year-old Trisha Lea Maher of Hastings, died of multiple blunt force injuries. Police said they believe she died on impact.
Police did not give the driver’s name and only said he was the passenger’s 18-year-old brother.
There were icy conditions at the time of the crash, and speed may have been a factor as well, police said.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the crash. It is unclear whether the occupants were wearing seat belts.
