New lane and ramp closures start this week around the metro
Motorists will find a number of new lane and ramp closures in place around the metro this week:
Along Interstate 494 westbound, the roadway will be reduced down to two lanes between Dodd Road and Highway 55 in Eagan starting Monday morning until June 1.
A couple of ramps will close as well:
- I-35E northbound to I-494 westbound (Friday at 11:30 p.m. until June 1)
- I-494 westbound to I-35E southbound (Friday at 7 p.m. until May 11)
You’ll find some noticeable changes at the I-694/I-494/I-94 Interchange in Woodbury/Oakdale this week too. The southbound side of I-694 between I-94 and Tamarack Road will be reduced to two lanes starting 5 a.m. Monday until Friday, April 24. Two ramps will close as well:
- I-94 eastbound to I-494 southbound.
- I-494 southbound to Tamarack Road.
Bridge repairs will impact your drive along I-35W south of downtown Minneapolis this week.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, emergency repairs need to be made to the northbound I-35W bridge over Midtown Greenway. The roadway will be reduced to two lanes between 35th Street and 28th Street starting at 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 until 5 a.m. Monday, April 20.
Overnight closures will begin this week along I-35W from Downtown to the Crosstown. Starting Wednesday night at 10 p.m. the southbound lanes will shut down between I-94 and Highway 62. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. On Thursday night, both directions of I-35W will close beginning at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday morning.
In the south metro, the ramp from I-35W southbound to 106th Street in Bloomington closes Sunday April 12. Drivers can use 98th Street.
