Merrifield man struck by vehicle, killed

A Merrifield man died this weekend after being struck by a vehicle.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the intersection of County Road 3 and County Road 109 at about 6:41 p.m. Saturday on a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.
The sheriff’s office said first responders found a 51-year-old man lying in the northbound lane of County Road 3. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle was traveling north on County Road 3 when it struck the man, who appeared to be in the lane of traffic.
The victim was dressed in all black at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office said, and the driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and is cooperating with law enforcement.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
