Man sentenced in connection to 2019 South Minneapolis bus stop crash

A man was sentenced Wednesday in connection to a South Minneapolis bus stop crash in 2019 that injured multiple people.

According to court records, 41-year-old Michael Wayne Boucher was sentenced to over three years (39 months) at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility, and given credit for 58 days served. He had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal vehicular operation while under the influence of a Schedule 1 or 2 controlled substance.

Metro Transit police said Boucher was the driver of a vehicle that plowed through a bus stop at East Lake Street, west of Hiawatha Avenue, at about 8:30 p.m. on May 19, 2019. Multiple people were injured in the crash.
