Man killed in crash on I-94 in Minneapolis identified
A 26-year-old who died after his SUV hit a light pole in Minneapolis Monday night has been identified.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Shivnarine Samogan died as the result of multiple blunt force injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 94 near Olson Memorial Highway. The Minnesota State Patrol reports Samogan was heading north when it appeared he lost control of the SUV, swerved and hit the pole.
Samogan was not wearing his seat belt, according to State Patrol, and the roads were wet at the time. According to the State Patrol, alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.
No one else was hurt in the crash.
