Pay close attention if you’re traveling along Interstaet 94 this weekend. A new traffic configuration just went into place Friday morning in Albertville.
Traffic heading westbound has been shifted onto a local access road at County Road 37. Drivers will travel for about a mile before reconnecting with the main lanes along I-94. The new traffic pattern will stay in place through November while crews reconstruct eastbound I-94. The work is part of a larger project between Clearwater and Maple Grove.
South of the Twin Cities, two major segments along I-90 have been reduced to one lane. About nine miles of the interstate are down to one lane between Albert Lea and Austin. Crews are repaving the roadway and will have the work complete sometime this fall.
If you’re traveling between Blue Earth and Fairmont, there’s a 16-mile stretch that’s down to one lane. You’ll find head-to-head traffic while crews resurface the roadway and repair a number of bridges. All lanes are expected to reopen in November.
