Crash kills 1 in southeastern Minnesota

One person died after a crash Sunday night in southeastern Minnesota.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report, it happened at about 6:46 p.m. on Highway 76 near mile marker 27 in Houston County.

The report states a Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Highway 76 and a Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Honda—identified as 26-year-old Casey Daniel Knutson, of Spring Grove—was killed in the crash.

The driver of the Ford—identified as 69-year-old Dan William Michaelis, of Winona—suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Neither of the drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the report. The report adds that Michaelis was not under the influence of alcohol, but it’s still unknown if Knutson was.

The crash remains under investigation.
