Carver County motorcyclist dies in crash
A Carver County man died after a crash involving the motorcycle he was driving and a passenger vehicle.
According to the Carver County Sheriff, on Saturday at 3:18 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a 911 call regarding a crash involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle on the 2600 block of County Road 21 in Hollywood Township.
When deputies arrived, they found both drivers had suffered injuries due to the crash. The driver of the passenger vehicle, 61-year-old Mary Arolf of Silver Lake, was treated by Ridgeway paramedics for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
The operator of the motorcycle, 49-year-old Dean Hecksel of Mayer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, it was learned that Hecksel was traveling north on County Road 21 when he lost control of the motorcycle and swerved into oncoming traffic where he struck a sport utility vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
