The price tag for the project to fix Ayd Mill Road in St. Paul is fluctuating wildly.
Last summer, a plan was considered for $3.5 million, however, more recent estimates are closer to $10 million.
One recent proposal has split the gap with a $7.5 million price tag to convert the road into a three-lane road plus a bike and pedestrian lane.
"This deal here shouldn’t be a discussion just between elected officials or with department heads," St. Paul City Council member Dai Thao said of the project. "It should be a public discussion, the city, the residents, the neighbors, and the taxpayer."
More public hearings are expected to take place regarding Ayd Mill Road improvements this summer. If things move forward, actual renovations are not expected to start until 2021.
