95-year-old woman dies in Sawyer County, Wis. crash

A woman was killed in a crash in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, Thursday morning.

According to the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, at about 8:30 a.m., a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries was made at the intersection of State Highway 70 and County Highway W in the Village of Winter.

An initial investigation indicates that a 2015 Buick Encore driven by Beatrice C. Stoner, 95, of Winter, was traveling southbound on County Highway W when she failed to yield at the intersection and collided with an eastbound semi-tractor trailer driven by 33-year-old Kenneth A. Beres, of Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin.

Stoner died from injuries suffered in the crash. Beres was not injured in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
