2 killed in crash in Lindstrom; victims identified

UPDATE: The Minnesota State Patrol identified the two victims killed in the crash as 20-year-old Heather Lee Williamson, of Centuria, Wisconsin, and 25-year-old Austin Tyler Eckard, of North Branch.


The Minnesota State Patrol says it is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Chisago County.

According to the State Patrol, the crash occurred at Highway 8 and Lincoln Road in Lindstrom at about 1:53 p.m.

Highway 8 was closed for an extended period of time but has since reopened.

According to the State Patrol crash report, a Saturn Ion was headed east on Highway 8. While traveling, it crossed into westbound traffic, then back into eastbound traffic, striking a Ford F-150. It then abruptly crossed back into the westbound lanes and struck a Peterson dump truck head-on.

The occupants of the dump truck and Ford weren’t injured.

The crash report states that a 20-year-old woman from Centuria, Wis. was driving the Saturn and a 25-year-old North Branch man was a passenger. The report doesn’t yet state who was killed.

The crash remains under investigation.
