2 injured in Douglas County motorcycle crash

Two people were taken to a hospital after a motorcycle crash in Douglas County on Sunday.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a motorcycle accident with a man pinned at about 4:40 p.m. near County Road 61 in Ida Township.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the driver pinned underneath the motorcycle and a teenager also injured.

According to the sheriff’s office, a preliminary investigation indicates the driver and his 13-year-old passenger were traveling east on County Road 61 and lost control of the motorcycle while going around a curve. The 13-year-old was thrown from the motorcycle while the driver was pinned underneath it.

The driver was taken to a hospital by an ambulance and was treated for a leg injury and a concussion. The passenger was taken to a hospital by a private party with minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office said both the driver and passenger were wearing helmets.

An investigation into the crash is still active but speed is believed to be a factor.
