Slick roads after Sunday afternoon’s snowfall potentially contributed to hundreds of crashes across Minnesota.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were 217 reported crashes between 1 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Of those crashes, 35 caused injuries and 49 were spinouts, or vehicles that went off the road.

Two of those crashes were deadly and involved teenagers, including a crash that happened in Eagan just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

State patrol said the driver of a truck lost control and rolled into the median along Highway 55 at Lone Oak Road.

Investigators said 17-year-old Angely Burgos-Salas, of Minneapolis, was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown from the truck during the crash.

She died at the scene, according to state patrol.

The driver and two other passengers in the truck were not hurt.

Additionally, just before 6 p.m. Sunday, state patrol says the roads were dry when a pickup lost control and rolled on Interstate 90, south of Winona.

Authorities said a 16-year-old driver and 13-year-old passenger were in the truck at the time of the crash, but officials haven’t yet said who was killed in the crash.

Minnesota State Patrol also responded to a serious crash along Interstate 35W.

The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. at 90th Street and involved four vehicles being hit or sideswiped after a Jeep stalled out under the bridge.

The driver outside of that Jeep was hit by an SUV and was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with life-threatening injuries.

Two other drivers involved in the crash were also hurt but are expected to be OK.
