1 hospitalized after car, semi collide in Hubbard Township

One person was taken to a hospital on Friday after a car and semi collided in Hubbard Township.

The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a crash on County Road 6 at about 9:12 a.m. There, deputies found the driver of the car pinned inside the vehicle, and the man had cuts to his face and was complaining of severe leg pain.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy and a passerby broke out a window to get access to the driver and provide medical attention until paramedics arrived at the scene. Authorities were then able to extract the driver and take him to a hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries wasn’t released.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the car, identified as 32-year-old Brady Milbrandt, of Menahga, entered the oncoming lane of traffic while reaching for a cigarette lighter. The department said the driver of the semi tried to avoid the oncoming car but Milbrandt’s vehicle collided with the semi’s rear duals.

The investigation is still active.
