Woman in hospital, man arrested after Brooklyn Center shooting

Brooklyn Center police are investigating after a woman suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound in a shooting Thursday afternoon.

Police said officers were called to the area of 57th Avenue North and Girard Avenue North at about 2:12 p.m. on a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers learned the woman had been taken to a nearby hospital.

Police said they detained several individuals during the preliminary investigation as authorities executed search warrants, gathered evidence, and interviewed potential witnesses.

Police said a man was arrested and is currently in custody as the investigation continues.

Police also said they do not believe the incident was random.

The Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park police departments, and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, assisted in the investigation.
