Woman critically hurt in southeast Minneapolis shooting is forensic scientist
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has confirmed the woman who was hospitalized after she was shot earlier this week in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis is a forensic scientist for the city.
The shooting happened just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Malcolm and University Avenues southeast outside of Family Wise, a family support center.

The Minneapolis Police Officers Federation issued the following statement regarding Nicki Lenway, who was listed as being in critical condition after the shooting:
Nicki is a well-liked, valued employee with the City of Minneapolis. She works closely with many of our officers and investigators in her capacity as a forensic scientist. These tragic events are becoming all too common in the City of Minneapolis and continue to impact the lives of many. Nicki and her family are in our continued thoughts and prayers as she recovers from this senseless act of violence.
As of this time, police haven’t said anyone has been arrested in the shooting.
