Woman convicted of aiding and abetting murder of Minneapolis realtor

A 29-year-old Fridley woman has been found guilty for her involvement in the New Year’s Eve 2019 killing of Monique Baugh, a Minneapolis mother and real estate agent.
On Monday, a jury found Elsa Segura guilty on all counts in connection to the murder. She’d been charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder, aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and aiding and abetting first-degree murder while committing kidnapping.
Her conviction carries a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of release. Her sentencing is set for Nov. 9.
Two others were charged and sentenced for the murder of Baugh. Cedric Berry was found guilty on three counts: kidnapping, first-degree attempted murder and first-degree murder. He was given a life sentence in July based on the conviction of the first-degree murder charge, as well as 33 additional years for the other two convictions. Berry Davis was given the same sentence on July 12.
Segura’s connection to the case involved her calling Baugh and setting up a time for a showing of a home in Maple Grove. The complaints say investigators were able to confirm the voice belonged to Segura. She later admitted to making the call and leaving the voice messages on Baugh’s phone.
It’s noted that Segura worked for the Hennepin County Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from June 2014 to December 2019, most recently as a probation officer, the county confirmed with KSTP back in January.
Berry and Davis later shot Baugh’s boyfriend multiple times and kidnapped Baugh from the Maplewood home, located on Niagara Avenue, before fatally shooting her and leaving her in an alleyway in Minneapolis.
“The heinous actions by the defendant were recognized by the jury, and she was found guilty for her involvement in the death of Ms. Baugh,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement. "My thoughts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones as they continue to heal.”
