Nov. 30 is Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to giving back to your charity of choice.
There are other ways to donate and help those in need, other than just giving money.
Many choose to volunteer their time.
Maj. Scott Shelbourn with the Salvation Army says time can be just as valuable as money.
"I always say about every hour volunteered at a kettle is worth about a $25 donation to the Salvation Army," Shelbourn said. "If you give a couple hours you’re really making a $25, $50, $100 donation to the Salvation Army, so it’s a great way to give back to your neighborhoods."
The Northern Division of the Salvation Army is hoping to raise $12 million this Christmas season.
