The Wisconsin State Patrol continues to investigate a deadly crash on I-94 on Saturday in St. Croix County that took the lives of two college students from Minnesota.

Friends and family have identified the women as Molly Young and Kyra Winslow.

St. Michael-Albertville High School Lady Knights Soccer posted about the women on Facebook Monday saying, “Our hearts are aching for the tragic loss of two STMA soccer alumni…Two beautiful souls taken from us way too soon.”

At the University of St. Thomas, where Winslow was a sophomore, a story was posted by Tommie Media staff Monday, about one of their own killed in a deadly car crash.

“It kind of feels surreal, it’s not something we’ve had to do before. We’ve been trying to take it one step at a time,” said Sarah McCarthy, creative director at Tommie Media.

McCarthy worked with Winslow on projects at the campus publication. She recalled the first time she met Winslow.

“Kyra was always super bubbly and outgoing,” McCarthy said. “She was genuinely curious in getting to know you."

The Wisconsin State Patrol said based on their initial investigation that the vehicle the two 20-year-old women were in went off the interstate near Woodville, entered a ditch and struck a tree.

"Just live TODAY to be a better person than we were yesterday. No matter the day, no matter the month, I pledge to do just that in the honor of Kyra Winslow. Though she’s not with us in a physical sense, she can continue to make us all better people," wrote Winslow’s father Russ wrote on social media.

The University of St. Thomas posted that services for Kyra are being held at the Peterson Chapel in St. Michael. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Monday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m.
