UPDATE: The Amber Alert has been canceled after authorities said the child was located.

No other information was immediately available.

The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department has issued an Amber Alert, seeking a 28-year-old woman who has a 2-month-old with her.

According to police, on Wednesday, officers were investigating a possible child neglect/abuse case while attempting to check on the wellbeing of a 2-month-old child. Police tried to contact the child’s mother, identified as Haley N. Pelot, but she spotted police and entered into a vehicle as a passenger with a male driver. The vehicle then drove off and refused to pull over when police attempted a traffic stop.

A vehicle pursuit began and eventually exited the city of Wisconsin Rapids. The pursuit was immediately terminated when officers determined there was a possibility that the infant was in the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a silver 2002 Toyota Camry with a black front bumper and Wisconsin license plate AHY 5345.

Pelot, who has an active warrant issued for her arrest, is described as a white female, 5-foot-1, weighing around 120 pounds. Her hair color is brown and she has hazel eyes. The child is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, about 1-foot-11, weighing around 9 pounds.

Police sent out an Amber Alert Thursday morning. The 2-month-old child requires daily medication that Pelot didn’t take with her for the child.

Anyone with any information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call the Wood County Dispatch Center at 715-421-8701, or Wood County Crime Stoppers.
