Bundle up! Minnesota remains in the midst of the coldest weather it has seen in about two years, Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow said.

Tuesday, Barlow said, will be partly to mostly sunny, with a high of 6 degrees and a wind chill near minus 30 to start the day.

As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for parts of the state Tuesday morning.

Barlow said afternoon temperatures will struggle to make it back above zero.

He added that as far as snow is concerned, other than some light flurries Tuesday, the next chance for any substantial snowfall could happen Thursday. Barlow said a light, accumulating snowfall could occur but that no major storms are in the forecast.

Looking ahead, Barlow said bitter cold is expected to last through the weekend and that nighttime temperatures will remain well below zero each night through the weekend.
