Wife thanks community after Waseca officer Arik Matson returns home

After being home for one week, the wife of Arik Matson, the Waseca police officer who was shot in the head in January, thanked the community for its support.

Megan Matson said in a CaringBridge post the family has been grateful for the meals, phone calls and cards that have been sent to the family’s home.

She said that a neighbor has also been taking the family’s daughters to and from school during the past week.

"Thank you for being there and helping with Arik when I need a break. The statement (it takes a village) is a understatement these days. We couldn’t do this without every one of you helping us out each and every day when we needed it," Megan Matson said in the post.

She added, "Every situation in life is temporary. So when life is good make sure you enjoy and receive it fully! And when life is not so good, remember that it will not last forever."
