A Minnesotan was only a few miles away from the blast in Nashville on Christmas morning.

Musician Dan Hochhalter grew up in White Bear Lake. He’s a member of Dierks Bentley’s band and now lives with his wife in Nashville. Hochhalter heard the explosion that rocked the city.

"We just heard this loud boom and we looked outside and was like, ‘Is that thunder?’" Hochhalter said. "It was just later we kind of found out what had happened and we were both just stunned, like, ‘What? A bomb went off in downtown Nashville on Christmas morning?"

Despite the extensive damage and the handful of people hurt in the blast, Hochhalter said it could have been a lot worse.

"I’m just thankful there wasn’t more injuries and it doesn’t sound like there were any casualties at all, which is pretty amazing given the circumstances, so there’s things to be thankful for."

U.S. officials said the man who is believed to be responsible for the explosion, Anthony Quinn Warner, blew himself up in the process. Investigators do not believe anyone else was involved.
