What’s open, closed on Labor Day
Labor Day is observed Monday, Sept. 7, this year.
According to the United State Department of Labor, Labor Day was created during the labor movement and is dedicated to the "social and economic achievements of American workers."
Banks, libraries and government offices are closed Monday.
Post offices are also closed, meaning Minnesotans won’t receive mail Monday.
City parking meters are generally not enforced during the holiday.
Metro Transit buses and Blue, Green and Red light rail lines will follow Sunday/holiday schedules. The Metro Blue Line airport shuttle will continue to run. Find route information by calling 612-373-3333 or visiting metrotransit.org.
Police, fire emergency services and 911 are not affected by the Labor Day holiday.
Most grocery stores and gas stations will be open, as will some restaurants and retail stores.
