Waseca officer moves out of ICU, into acute care facility

A Waseca officer who has been recovering after being shot in the head is now out of intensive care.

According to an update from his family, Officer Arik Matson left North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, where he has been recovering since being shot in the head in early January, and has moved to a facility for longer-term acute care.

Matson, 32, is now working on strengthening his muscles and speech, according to family.

Tyler Janovsky, 37, was charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer in connection with the incident. He is scheduled to be in court this week.
