Verdict reached in trial of Derek Chauvin, to be announced shortly


A jury has reached a verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who’s charged in the death of George Floyd.

The verdict will be read in court between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., according to the court.

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The 12 jurors have to reach a unanimous decision on each count to deliver the verdict.

Chauvin arrived in court with his attorney shortly after 3 p.m., according to the court pool reporter.
