A Subaru WRX crashed into a house in St. Paul Thursday night after the driver lost control.
According to St. Paul Police Department, at 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Arlington Avenue East for a vehicle that crashed into a house.
When officers arrived, they saw a blue Subaru WRX that appeared to have driven into a residence’s southeast lower level window. There were several people inside the house when the vehicle struck it, and one individual had been grazed by the vehicle but was not seriously injured, said police.
Officers learned the vehicle’s driver, a 55-year-old man, was being taught how to drive a stick shift by his 28-year-old son, who is the owner of the Subaru, when the dad lost control, accelerated and struck the house.
St. Paul Fire responded and provided medical attention and structural support to the residence.
Xcel Energy and the city of St. Paul Housing Inspector also responded to assess the damage to the house. No one was seriously injured by the crash, said police.
Crews have stabilized the structure, secured utilities, and evaluated patients before the removal of the vehicle.
