An alert delivery driver is being credited for keeping a house fire in Blaine from spreading.

Last month, UPS driver Kevin Aiken was making deliveries when he noticed a burning smell in the air and spotted smoke.

Aiken discovered a home on Woodland Parkway Northeast was on fire and called 911.

The family escaped out the basement door.

Firefighters quickly arrived and the blaze caused only minor damage.

"I have a home, wife and kids," Aiken said. "I’d like to think someone else would do the same thing. I don’t know, it just seemed like the right thing to do at the time."

Investigators determined the fire at the home was accidental.
