Police say one person was killed after an overnight shooting in Minneapolis.
According to John Elder, director of the city’s Office of Police Information, officers were called just before 3 a.m. to the 2700 block of Dupont Avenue North on the report of a ShotSpotter activation.
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw numerous people fleeing from the area on foot.
Police then located a man in his 20s who had suffered a gunshot wound. Elder said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Later Thursday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified him as 20-year-old Edward Mathew Thomas Hodges Jr., stating he died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
