UPDATE: Suspect who barricaded himself in Bloomington taken into custody peacefully

UPDATE: The Bloomington Police stated that residents who were displaced by the incident can return home.


The suspect who had barricaded themselves in a Bloomington apartment has surrendered peacefully


There is a heavy police presence in West Bloomington Friday evening.

According to the Bloomington Police Department, police were called at 2:18 p.m. to assist the U.S. Marshall’s North Star Fugitive Taskforce as they tried to pick up a person on a warrant. Shots had been fired by the time Bloomington police were called however they say they are not sure who fired the shots.

The person then went into an apartment and police still believe they are in the apartment.

It is not believed that any officers were injured during the altercation.

The area around the 10600 block of Brunswick Road in Bloomington is currently blocked off as police continue their operation.
