A standoff that happened Wednesday morning in Andover has ended, the Anoka County Sheriff has confirmed.

According to the sheriff's office, law enforcement at the scene on the 300 block of Andover Boulevard Northwest heard a gunshot from inside a horse trailer where the suspect was hiding. A person was found deceased inside.

The sheriff's office said a passerby reported smoke coming from a home at about 6:20 a.m. Deputies and firefighters responded and found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Photos from a source near the scene Wednesday morning show the house engulfed in flames.

As crews attempted to extinguish the flames, deputies encountered a person in the back of the property in a trailer. Authorities said the man was armed and was making threats. At that time, for the safety of the firefighters at the scene, the fire department was pulled back, the sheriff's office said.

As deputies tried to communicate with the man, the house burned down to the foundation.

Then, just before 10 a.m., a gunshot was heard from inside the trailer, the sheriff's office said. A SWAT team later approached and found the man dead.

"This is certainly not the outcome we wanted, it is a very tragic situation," Lt. Andy Knotz said.

Investigations into the man's death and the cause of the fire are underway.

The man's identity has not yet been released. Authorities said they don't believe there is any threat to the public.

No other information was immediately available.
