A man was taken into custody Wednesday following an overnight incident near Hastings.
A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crew reported seeing authorities gathered Wednesday morning in the area of 190th Street and Lillehei Avenue.
A Dakota County Sheriff’s Office update issued just after 2 p.m. stated sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call from a building along Lena Avenue in Marshan Township at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 38-year-old man at an apartment building.
"At the time, he did not appear to be a threat to himself or others," the sheriff’s office release stated.
However, about half an hour later, authorities heard a loud noise and continued to hear gunshots over the course of the next hour.
Deputies saw the man, armed with a rifle, exiting his apartment at about 3 a.m.
A South Metro SWAT Team took the man into custody.
During the incident, deputies were able to remove residents from the area and no injuries were reported.
The man is currently in custody at the Dakota County Jail.
An investigation is ongoing.
